Crystal Gala Wrap Up: Celebrating 15 Years
On Monday, May 7, 2018, Studio 180 Theatre celebrated our fifteenth anniversary with our Crystal Gala at the Arcadian Loft in the heart of downtown Toronto. The event was presented by an anonymous donor.
Thanks to our guests, partners, donors and sponsors, the event raised $31,130 for Studio 180’s ongoing artistic and educational activities.
Emceed by actor Barry Flatman, the evening featured a toast to Studio 180 Theatre’s past and present board members, staff and advisory council members and a special tribute to founding Core Artistic Team member, Kimwun Perehinec, who also read a piece from Studio 180’s first performance of The Laramie Project.
Throughout the evening, guests were also treated to surprise performances from Studio 180’s past productions including excerpts read by David Schurmann (King Charles III), Barry Flatman (Stuff Happens) and songs performed by Michael Therriault (Parade) and Jeff Irving (Parade). The evening concluded with Artistic Director Joel Greenberg announcing our 2018/19 Season and a sneak peek excerpt reading from our 2019 production of Oslo by J.T. Rogers, read by Blair Williams.
Guests also participated by bidding in our silent auction, which raised a record amount of funds, and participating in our interactive stations that included a virtual reality experience by the House of VR, photobooth by Gali Studios and a Studio 180 IN CLASS station run by Core Artistic Team Members Jessica Greenberg and Mark McGrinder.
Steam Whistle generously sponsored beer, INDS Decor provided decoration, and the delectable food stations were created by Oliver & Bonacini.
