Studio 180 Theatre & Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company in First Partnership
My Name is Asher Lev, Aaron Posner’s stage adaptation of the Chaim Potok novel, marks the first partnership between Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company and Studio 180 Theatre. When the production opens in November, playing at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, it will mark the realization of an idea that began five years ago, when Joel Greenberg (Studio 180’s Artistic Director) brought the project to Avery Saltzman and David Eisner (co-Artistic Directors of HGJTC).
Asher Lev links both companies’ mandates: HGJTC’s focus on stories that draw from the Jewish experience complements Studio 180’s commitment to plays of social and political purpose. We share the view that this play is the starting point to a conversation, rather than an end in itself. Audience discussion and guest speakers will play an important role in exploring the themes of the show, and extending its impact beyond the stage.
We look forward to this new collaboration and, in turn, we look forward to seeing you at a performance of My Name is Asher Lev.
