Page to Stage Campaign Surpasses Its Goal

Studio 180 Theatre’s Page to Stage fundraising campaign

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we surpassed our $15,000 fundraising goal for Studio 180 Theatre’s Page to Stage campaign! From July 1 to December 31, we raised $18,316 to support the development of new Canadian plays. We are grateful to all the individuals who gave so generously to help playwrights Marie Beath Badian, Paul Dunn, Hannah Moscovitch and Jason Sherman develop their newest plays through Studio 180 IN DEVELOPMENT.

Here’s what Marie Beath Badian had to say about working on her play Common during our November Studio 180 IN DEVELOPMENT sessions:

Playwright Marie Beath Badian at the November 12, 2016, reading of her play COMMON, as part of Studio 180 IN DEVELOPMENT

“The time, space and resources that were made available to me by Studio 180 Theatre were invaluable.

The entire Studio 180 team was generous, accessible and supportive. As both director and facilitator, Kimwun Perehinec championed the work from the very beginning and explored the work with joy, curiosity and empathy.

Studio 180 not only created a program where I could hear my work several times, they created a structure that allowed for the time and space with the director and actors to continue to work on the script between each reading. I was able to integrate changes during the process.

I had the unique opportunity to hear my work performed in front of four separate audiences – three student audiences and one general audience. With four readings I learned things that I would never have had discovered in a single public presentation. I was also able to solicit more than 200 feedback forms from the student audiences; which has become an integral piece of my work.

This development opportunity propelled my project forward in exciting directions. I am beyond grateful for the unique development opportunity provided by Studio 180.”
