Studio 180 Theatre celebrates our 15th Anniversary with our 2017/18 season—and our most ambitious year of programming yet.

Read on to hear from our Artistic Director Joel Greenberg, and learn about how you can help Studio 180 thrive for another fifteen years.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 15 years since our first production of The Laramie Project at Artword Theatre. Looking back, there’s a lot to be proud of. Our company has survived—and thrived—when many other venues and organizations have had to shut their doors, and that is no small feat.

At this milestone, I’ve begun to reflect on what Studio 180 has meant to me, personally.

I’d never have thought that I would be in this place at this moment in my life. Studio 180 Theatre began as a one-off project in collaboration with a group of University of Waterloo alumni. We produced The Laramie Project and I thought that was our goal. That it has grown into an operating company with staff and long-term planning is both a thrill and a shock. I look back on the past 15 years and I can’t imagine a more satisfying way to have defined my time and myself as a person and as an artist. Studio 180 has given me a home to practice my craft, explore artistically and above all…

Studio 180 has given me the freedom to dream.

Over the past 15 years, we’ve produced over 500 performances that have played to more than 110,000 patrons. Additionally, we’ve engaged 2,355 students from across the Greater Toronto Area with our Studio 180 IN CLASS program. We are a small company that makes a big impact.

This season, we’re celebrating with our most active season ever—featuring two mainstage productions, two sessions of new play development activities, our growing education program and our Beyond the Stage activities, which include Studio 180 READS and 180 WOMEN. To support our most ambitious season yet, we’ve launched our 180 FOR 180 fundraising campaign. Our goal is to receive 180 donations before June 30, 2018. We need your help to reach our target and to support this season’s programming.

If you are a returning donor, we thank you for your continuing support and ask you to consider increasing your donation by 15%, one percent for each past season.

If you are donating for the first time, we invite you to consider being a part of our FIRST FIFTEEN campaign with a monthly donation of $15, for an annual donation of $180.

With your help, we can reach 180 FOR 180 and ensure that Studio 180 continues to thrive.

Thank you for being on this adventure with us and for your ongoing support.
