Studio 180 Joins the Theatre Community in Support of SummerWorks
Studio 180 is pleased to announce that we’ve added our name to the growing list of Canadian theatres banding together to support the SummerWorks Theatre Festival in the face of a recent massive cut to the organization’s funding. We’re fully aware of the Festival’s invaluable role in developing new work given our own experience with Paul Dunn’s Offensive Shadows, which had its world premiere at SummerWorks in 2007 and went on to a full production at the Tarragon Theatre in 2008, and we’re delighted that so many theatres around the country are coming together to offer their support.
On Friday, July 15, starting at 8PM, over 50 theatre companies will collaboratively host a staged reading of Homegrown by Catherine Frid as a fundraising event for SummerWorks. We hope you can join us at the Berkeley Street Theatre for this exciting pay-what-you-can event and show your support for a festival that continues to nurture theatre artists both in Toronto and around the country.
Here’s the official press release and the ever-growing list of theatres taking part.
